1.3 URL and Link Data
Core Functionality: Surfinguard's primary function is to protect you from malicious links, phishing attempts, and unsafe websites. To provide this protection:
- When you click a link, Surfinguard intercepts the URL before opening it
- The URL is analyzed for potential threats
- Analysis may occur locally on your device and/or via secure cloud-based threat detection services
- URLs are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored after analysis is complete
What we do NOT do with URL data:
- We do not maintain a browsing history of your link clicks
- We do not access the content of websites you visit
- We do not read the content of your messages, emails, or other communications
- We do not sell or share URL data for advertising or marketing purposes
2. How Link Protection Works
Surfinguard provides system-wide link protection using proprietary technology that scans URLs before they can cause harm. To deliver this protection, the App may request certain permissions on your device.
What our technology does:
- Detects when you are about to open a link from any source
- Analyzes the URL for potential threats before navigation occurs
- Warns you or blocks access if a threat is detected
- Allows safe links to proceed normally
What our technology does NOT do:
- We do not monitor, record, or store your browsing activity
- We do not read the content of your messages, emails, or communications
- We do not access website content after navigation
- We do not track your location or behavior
- We do not use any permissions for purposes other than link security
All permissions requested by Surfinguard are used solely for security scanning and threat detection.
3. How We Use Information
We use collected data for:
- Providing safe link checking and browsing protection
- Detecting phishing, malware, and unsafe URLs
- Improving app stability, performance, and security
- Fixing bugs and enhancing features
- Understanding general usage trends (anonymized)
We do not use data for advertising, profiling, or marketing.
4. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing
4.1 Threat Detection Services
To detect malicious URLs and protect you from threats, Surfinguard may query trusted third-party security services. When a URL is checked:
- Only the URL (or a hashed/anonymized version) is transmitted
- No personal information is shared with these services
- These services are contractually required to comply with applicable privacy laws
Third-party security services we may use include industry-standard threat intelligence providers. Their privacy policies govern their handling of data.
4.2 Analytics and Crash Reporting
We may use trusted third-party services for crash reporting and anonymous analytics. These services receive only anonymous, non-personal data and are contractually required to comply with privacy laws.
4.3 No Selling of Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data with any third parties.
